After securing the doubles title last year with Erica Garcia Badaracco, Megan Nguyen has again emerged as the state doubles champion, partnering with freshman sensation Mylene Keophaseut.
Nguyen’s victory is San Diego Mesa College's first two-time individual badminton title.
Mylene Keophaseut is no stranger to success on the badminton court. In 2022, while representing Mira Mesa High School, she captured the individual CIF singles title for the Marauders.
As the saying goes, anyone can be beaten at any given moment. The San Diego Mesa College women’s badminton team fulfilled that sentiment last Thursday by upsetting back-to-back state champions DeAnza College 14-7 in Cupertino, California.
After finishing 8-2 in the South Coast Conference last season, second behind Pasadena City College, the San Diego Mesa College women’s badminton team will rely on the progression of first-year players and lean on veterans for a successful season.
