The San Diego Mesa College women's badminton team continues its solid play in the highly competitive South Coast Conference.
Currently holding second place in the conference with a 5-1 record (5-2 overall), the Olympians have played consistent all year. Their only setback in March was a close 12-9 loss to Pasadena City College, in which head coach June Andrews mentions, "we weren't as consistent with our shots against them, we'll look to fixing that the next time around."
That rematch arrives today at Mesa College, where the two top contenders will battle for positioning in the conference.
As Mesa continues to build the badminton program under the watch of Andrews, the Pasadena City College program has been one of the most dominant programs in the state. The Lancers have claimed 17 conference titles since 2000 and were state champions in 2017 and 2018.
The Olympians will look to Mylene Keophaseut to set the tone, the 2024 SCC singles champion and state doubles title holder is one of the key emotional leaders of the team.
