Three-peat: Women's Track and Field Dominate Conference Championships

On Saturday at Southwestern College, the San Diego Mesa College women's track and field team made history by claiming the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference title for the third year in a row. The team's performance and consistency throughout the day led to a total of 274 points, surpassing Cuyamaca College, which earned second place with 166 points, and San Bernardino Valley College, which came in third with 65 points.

The team was dominant, winning 11 out of the 20 scored events. 

Kais Kimuli was a standout performer, achieving a shot put of 14.21/ 46'7.5, a hammer throw of 45/27, and a discus throw of 43.0m 141'1. 

Alexis Noble completed the 1500 meter in 5:06.28, the 5000 meter in 19:48, and the 10000 meter in 46:09.

Ashley Nash also distinguished herself by meeting State A marks in two events. She clocked in at 12:28 in the 100 meters and jumped an impressive 5.48 meters (17'11.75) in the long jump. 

Sidney Garcia achieved a time of 2:23.60 in the 800 meters, and Kaitlyn Lu threw the javelin to an impressive distance of 26.50 meters (86'11).

The 4x400 meter relay, comprising Shayla Harris, Maddie Mayo, Amorianna Leveitt, and Sidney Garcia, proved to be a formidable team, finishing with a time of 4:06.35, beating Cuyamaca College, who crossed the finish line at 4:17.65.

Looking ahead, the team is set to compete in the Steve Scott Invitational at UC Irvine on Friday, April 26th. The team's recent performance shows that, once again, this team is ready to compete for the upcoming SoCal Prelims, followed by the 3C2A State Championships on May 17 at Saddleback College.
