Mesa begins season with win at Waterman Festival

The 2018 swimming and diving season got underway at the Waterman Festival this weekend and included a first day Pentathlon and a second day invitational meet.

Mesa’s Sam Schmidt won the 5-event Pentathlon, besting 68 other competitors with a combined total time of 3:07.20. Schmidt won the 50 Breaststroke and 100 IM events while Mesa teammates Julie Parsons won the 50 Backstroke and Andy Mill won the 50 Freestyle. Mesa team members finished 5th through 8th place; Andy Mill, Renee Lanswick, Anya Lavoie, and Julie Parsons.

During day 2 Mesa continued the winning with Anya Lavoie taking first in the 1000 Free, Sam Schmidt winning the 200 IM & 100 Breast, Andy Mill winning the 50 Free again and Julie Parsons finishing first in the 100 Backstroke

In the relay portion Mesa won all 4 relays they entered; 200 Medley Relay, 350 Backstroke Relay, 350 Breaststroke Relay and 350 Freestyle Relay.
