Next on “7 Questions with…” is Women’s Basketball freshman Isabella Ryan.

1. Where are you from?

“I’m from San Diego, California.”

2. What high school did you attend?

“I attended Point Loma High School.”

3. What position(s) do you play?

“I play guard and shooting guard.”

4. What is you major? What is your career goal?

"I’m majoring in Kinesiology. My future plans aren’t set yet, but some careers I am thinking of pursuing are physical therapist, nutritionist, or personal trainer.”

5. Why did you choose to attend San Diego Mesa College?

"When I was in high school, I actually thought senior year was going to be my last time playing basketball. Though, in one of my high school practices Coach Lindsay came to watch, and I ended up talking to her about playing at Mesa. Mesa was my number one choice for starting my college career, and I am super thankful that I talked to Coach that day. I honestly was nervous to continue playing basketball in college because I know balancing school and sport is challenging, but Coach’s encouragement about Mesa’s sports program made me want to play. I absolutely love basketball, and I’m stoked that I get to keep doing what I enjoy.”

6. What are you most looking forward to with the upcoming season?

"During quarantine, our team has been working out over Zoom, and getting to know each other. With that being said, one of the biggest things I’m looking forward to this season is getting to see everyone in person and playing as a team on the court. I am also looking forward to being able to play an actual game because right now with COVID you cannot even play a scrimmage. I absolutely miss playing with others and can’t wait to get back.”

7. How have you been able to train during COVID?

"During COVID-19, I have been super careful where I work out, to make sure I’m not going to interact with anyone around. It is important to stay safe, so if I go for a run, I make sure to have my mask. Other than that, I have been doing most of my workouts either inside or right outside my house. It is a safe place to get a great workout in if you properly apply yourself. It has definitely been hard to get motivated since I don’t have friends around, but what’s more important to me is staying self-disciplined and becoming a better player every day.”
