The San Diego Mesa College men's volleyball team has advanced in the 2024 3C2A Men's Volleyball Championship after a hard-earned victory against Irvine Valley College. The Olympians triumphed over the Lasers in three straight sets, 25-23, 25-21, 25-18, in front of a cheering crowd on Friday night. The sets were closely contested, similar to their previous meeting this year, and Irvine put up a tough fight. Head coach David Proffitt praised IVC as a tough program, citing their aggressive serving style, and expressed relief with the team's three-set victory.

Ricardo Lorja and TJ Letuligasenoa showcased impressive attacking performances. Lorja scored seven kills and accumulated eight points in ten attempts, and TJ contributed seven kills and 7.5 points from twelve total attacks. Patrick Buckel recorded ten digs and a passer rating of 2.25 out of 3, while Ryan Koser also impressed with a passing rating of 2.39.

The Olympians will face Golden West College in the next round on Thursday, April 25th, in a rematch of their previous encounter in February, which the Olympians lost 1-3. Proffitt acknowledged that Golden West College is another challenging team with a formidable serving style and emphasized the importance of strong passing and a good start to the match. The team is looking forward to this rematch. The start time for the game has yet to be announced.
