Head Coach David Proffitt has been named  Coach of the Year by the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) for leading his team to their first-ever PCAC championship. This is a remarkable achievement as just a few years ago; the team had only won two games in two years.

Coach Proffitt attributes this success to the hard work and dedication of his coaching staff, Lindsey Olhausen and Sean Thomas. He commends their tireless effort and acknowledges that the team's achievement would not have been possible without their unwavering support.

Moreover, Coach Proffitt expresses his satisfaction with the program's progress and credits all the players who have come and gone through the program since he took over. He praises the student-athletes from the first two seasons for their strong work ethic, which motivated him to teach them the game he loves even more. “I don’t really see it as hard work; I saw it as a challenge,’ states Proffitt.

The Olympians ended their 2024 season with an impressive overall record of 20-4 and 8-1 in the conference. Proffitt attributes the team's recent success to the support of the athletic department, including the Athletic Director, Ryan Shumaker, the counseling department, and the supporting cast on campus.

When asked about his advice for coaches looking to turn a program around, Proffitt recommends having a clear vision, sticking to the plan, connecting with the players, assembling a competent coaching team, and recruiting your tail off.

The Olympians are scheduled to play tonight's semifinal matchup at Orange Coast College against Golden West College after defeating Irvine Valley College last Friday. First serve is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
