Manny Bautista-Director of Operations-A graduate of Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo Class of 1982 Bautista had a distinguished athletic career.  He was a 1978 Junior College All-American in Track and Field (10,000m) while at South Plains Junior College in Level land Texas. Bautista transferred to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he was a member of 4 NCAA Division II National Championship Teams (2 in Cross Country and 2 in Track and Field.) He also earned All-American honors in both Cross Country and Track and Field. He also competed in the 1984 Olympic Marathon Trials.

Bautista followed his Hall of Fame Coach Steve Miller to Kansas State University where he began his coaching career first as Graduate Assistant and later as a fulltime assistant coach.  In 1989 Mesa College hired him as the Head Men and Women’s Cross Country Coach and assistant track coach. During his 14 year coaching career at Mesa College Bautista’s teams won 4 State Championships.  His 1994 Women’s State Cross Country Championship team was the first Women’s State Championship team in school history.  The 1998 Women’s State Championship in Track and Field Team remains the only State Track and Field team in school history to win a state championship.  Bautista’s 2000-2001 Men’s State Cross Country Teams were voted the number one community college team in the nation.  Upon his retirement in 2002 Bautista had been voted California Community College “Coach of the Year” four times.

In 1997 Bautista was named to his first International Team as part of the Worlds University Games Staff for Track and Field. He has since served on a total of 17 National Teams.  He has been a staff member on 3 Pan American Game’s staffs, and all IAAF World Championship Staffs. (World Indoors, World Outdoors, World Cross Country, World Juniors, World Relays and the Continental Cup)  In 2008 Bautista served on the 2008 Olympic Games (Beijing, China) Staff as an Assistant Manager. In 2018 Bautista was elected into the California Community College Cross Country and Track Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He continues to serve Team USA in a number of capacities.

He has been married to his wife Barbara for 36 years, they have one daughter Maegan who works for Nike’s North American Women’s Apparel division and lives in Beaverton, Oregon. Bautista’s hobbies include golf, a love of the beach and he is a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan.
