The women's beach volleyball team is on fire, having won their last four games without dropping a single set.
"We're are finally comfortable with our pairings," says Head Coach Kim Lester. "This season has had a lot challenges, including COVID and players missing in the beginning of the season. We experimented with various combinations, and I believe we've finally found the right combination."
Pairing partners is a complex process for the coaching staff. You have to think about personalities, skills, communication, strengths, weaknesses, and how they play together.
Lester points out the outstanding play of the #4 line, Maria Coronado and Eva Luna. "They both have the same demeanor and do not get caught up in mistakes,' adds Lester. "All year, they have played consistent and smart volleyball."
Another reason for the continued solid play has been the transfer of skill into gameplay. "There's more communication and we are all focusing on our culture and team standards of WE> ME."
