Beach Volleyball Set for State Title Run

The San Diego Mesa College women's beach volleyball team is scheduled to participate in the 3C2A State Championships starting Thursday at West Valley College.

The team finished the season strong, recording a 20-3 record, including an eleven-game win streak. The team's last loss occurred on March 22 against St. Katherines University, a non-3C2A program.

The tournament format is pool play. Pool play refers to assigning teams to a certain pool. All teams in that pool play a full round-robin against the other teams in the pool. The winners of the pool will then face each other.

SD Mesa College is in Pool A. Their initial match against El Camino College is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. After this match, El Camino College and Fresno City College will compete, followed by SD Mesa College playing against Fresno City College.

The winner of Pool A will face the winner of Pool B, comprising Feather River College, Ventura College, and MiraCosta College.

Coach Kim Lester has consistently emphasized the importance of playing without pressure and with the "next ball" mentality. She believes this approach will allow the team to accomplish something exceptional this year.
