Mesa begins conference play, dominates Palomar College

Although the day started with slight overcast and a cool breeze, the play of the San Diego Mesa women’s beach volleyball was on fire.  The Olympians started their Pacific Coast Athletic Conference campaign on Friday by dominating Palomar College 5-0.

“I felt this was our most complete game so far,” stated head coach Kim Lester. “The coaching staff is pleased with each team and their ability to execute and play in the system we’ve installed.”

The win brings the Olympians record to 7-5 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

“Consistency is what we have been preaching to all our players,” adds Lester. “In addition to consistency, we have to play with a lot of confidence. If we play with both, and play in our system, we will be successful. The season is long, but I feel as if we are headed in the right direction.”

The Olympians will once again play Palomar College on Friday, March 22 in Carlsbad, CA. First serve is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.

“We have to stay focused and not let previous success get to our heads. We play Palomar College in a couple of days and we expect a battle.”
