Announcing the San Diego Mesa College Athletes of the Week for September 4, 2023 through September 8, 2023. 

KAILYN JAEGER | WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL 
Sophomore Kailyn Jaeger, the state leader in kills per set, was named CCCWVCA State Player of the Week. 
Jager collected 71 kills in a 4-0 week for recently state rated #7 and still undefeated Mesa, beating the likes of #5 Irvine Valley, #6 Ventura and #11 Cypress. She scored 21 kills with 17 digs in the Irvine, then hit .474 with 11 kills while serving six aces in the triumph over Cypress. She had a .301 hitting percentage for the week, totaling 38 digs, 13 blocks (eight solo) and nine aces.

JORDAN DWYER | FOOTBALL 
Last week, against Cerritos College, the Olympians defense secured the 14-10 victory after two game saving plays by sophomore Jordan Dwyer. On the last Falcons possession, on second down at the 19-yard line, Cerritos wide receiver Dillon Laurer was able to create space, appearing to be open, until Dwyer was able to get his hands inside and knock the ball away. On the next play, with four seconds remaining, Cerritos quarterback Dylan Eldredge had what appeared to be Gavin Porch open in the corner end zone, but once again, Dwyer closed quickly and once again knocked the ball away, securing the win for the Olympians.
