Mesa Women's Water Polo runner-up to Riverside at SoCal Championships

Playing in their first SoCal Championship game the #2 seed Mesa women's water polo team came up short against # 1 seed Riverside, 9-5. The runner-up finish is the highest in program history and on the bright side still qualifies the team to advance to next weekends State Championship tournament, also a first for the team.

Jaicey Tyler paced Mesa with 2 goals while Analise Voytilla, Jessica Levenson and Bailey Wickliffe each scored one goal. Madi Atkins had 7 saves to help Mesa stay within 2 until midway through the fourth quarter.

Mesa falls to 26-3 and will take on the # 1 seed from the North, Diablo Valley in the semi-final game to open the State Championships. Neither team has faced each other this season.
