Mesa beats Santa Barbara, 8-5 at SoCal Championships

The #2 seed Mesa women's water polo team was able to overcome a slow start and a 4 goal deficit to # 7 seed Santa Barbara to win 8-5 and advance at the SoCal Regional Championships. Mid-way through the second quarter Mesa was scoreless and behind by 4 before Jaicey Tyler got on the board with a goal. Bailey Wickliffe scored just before half to swing the momentum to Mesa.  The third quarter Tyler and Wickliffe each scored one to bring Mesa back as Santa Barbara was held scoreless. Mesa took command in the fourth quarter and went on a 3 goal run by Analise Voytilla, Cassie Bernas and Ellie Williams to grab the lead for good. A late goal by Santa Barbara was erased by a final goal from Cassie Bernas. Goalie Madi Atkins had 15 saves.

Mesa advances to face # 3 seed Fullerton with the winner qualifying for the State Championships.

Mesa improves it's record to 25-2.
