Mylene Keophaseut claims South Coast Conference singles championship

Mylene Keophaseut is no stranger to success on the badminton court. In 2022, while representing Mira Mesa High School, Keophaseut captured the individual CIF singles title for the Marauders. Now, as a freshman at San Diego Mesa College, the Olympian has once again demonstrated her talent by claiming the South Coast Conference singles title, after defeating Anh Vu Nguyen Tran  22-20, 20-14 out of Pasadena City College.

Head coach June Andrews commends Mylene's outstanding performance this year. She attributes her success to her unique blend of power and finesse, particularly evident in her net shots, which have proven to be a game-changer all year long. During the season, Mylene held a 13-3 overall record, with her losses limited to players from Pasadena City College.

Coach Andrews is quick to point out Mylene’s physical and mental strengths that contribute to her success. Mylene’s agility and excellent footwork allow her to cover all areas of the court. At the same time, her top-notch physical fitness enables her to handle long rallies without showing any signs of fatigue. Moreover, her exceptional mental game keeps her composed and even-keeled during matches, regardless of the situation.
