Softball releases non-traditional schedule

The San Diego Mesa softball team announced their 2022-23 nontraditional schedule today. The goal for these contests is to not only get an early look at the new players, but also get a jump start on creating team chemistry. “One thing I always tell our new players is the difference between club and college athletics is team,” states head coach Jaclyn Guidi. “It’s not about individual stats anymore, it’s about making the team better as a whole. We also schedule these games to get each player as much time on the field because we are allowed free substitutions.”

The Olympians will host a one day tournament on Saturday, October 22 and will compete against St. Katherine's University and Saddleback College.

On Friday, November 4, the team will travel to Alcala Park to take on the University of San Diego at 6:30PM. The Torreros, a Division I program, competes in the West Coast Conference. Guidi believes in competing against four year universities in order for the players to get a feel against top notch competition.

The San Diego Mesa College softball team is looking to bounce back from a 14-18 (4-8 conference) season which placed the Olympians 3rd in the PCAC. The spring campaign begins on January 27, 2023 at the Glendale Tournament. The team returns with 14 sophomores that will provide valuable leadership that will look to compete for the conference title.
