San Diego Mesa College recently hosted the 3C2A SoCal Finals on Friday. The event is the last stop, and opportunity, for athletes to qualify for the state championship, which will be held on Friday, May 19-20 at Modesto College. 

On the men’s side, Mt. San Antonio College finished atop the rankings with a total of 223 points. San Diego Mesa College finished second with 170. Riverside Community College with 142. 

The women’s title also belongs to Mt. San Antonio College. The Mounties finished with 196 points. In second place, Cerritos College tallied 144 points. In third-place, SD Mesa College turned in 72 points. 

Highlights from Friday included the following athletes finishing in first-place:

* Kais Kimuli 1st Place Shot Put 12.90m 42'4 and 5th Place Discus 39.11 128'3

* Madison Rauch 1st Place Pole Vault 3.60m 11'1.25

*Bryce Kueker 1st Place Steeplechase 9:26.92 and 5th Place 15:05.24

The San Diego Mesa College men’s and women’s track and field team will be sending a total of 32 student-athletes to the state championships. The following athletes qualified during the Prelimns on May, 5, 2023.
