Stinson and Mballa Named All-Conference

Sophomore Steve Stinson has been named First Team All-Conference by the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. Stinson averaged 16.2 points per game and 3.3 assists per game. The sophomore out of San Diego High School shot 80.3 percent from the free throw line and 40.3 percent from the field.

"Steve Stinson is far more than a talented basketball player,” states head coach Travis Nichols. “His exemplary character was a consistent expression of what it means to be loyal, hard-working, flexible, and well-spoken. In addition, Steve maintained academic excellence throughout his time at Mesa College and was our team's leading scorer. We look forward to seeing all that Steve will accomplish as he moves on."

Freshman Chanel Mballa has been named Second Team All-Conference by the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference. The 6’7 forward from Cameroon averaged 10.4 points per game, 8.9 rebounds per game, and shot 51.8 percent from the field.

"Chanel  Mballa took a significant leap of faith when he decided to come to Mesa College from Cameroon, Africa,” adds Nichols. “Not only did Chanel travel across the world to join our team, but he came to us as a seasoned soccer player with very little experience in basketball. He acclimated immediately, becoming our team's top rebounder, averaging a double-double in both rebounds and points. As if this wasn't impressive enough, Chanel has retained an impressive G.P.A. and has been an absolute pleasure to work with both on and off the court."
