Mesa Men’s Basketball: Mitchell signs letter of intent with Union College

Olympians are on the move. Sophomore Jahloni Mitchell has signed his letter of intent to Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky.

No stranger to success, the Union College men’s basketball program captured the 2017 NAIA Division II championship and head coach Kevin Burton was named one of the top 100 most impactful coaches in the NAIA. A member of the Appalachian Athletic Conference, Mitchell will join teammate William Bailey, who announced he will compete for the Bulldogs in late July.

A product of Patrick Henry High School, the 6’3 guard is known as an extraordinary worker. Enrolled at Mesa in 2019, Mitchell attained a 3.3 GPA his first semester and continued to work hard to achieve this milestone.

“He’s worked hard the entire time we’ve had him,’ states head coach Travis Nichols. “Jelani is a gifted player who has overcome academic challenges, but with the right support and determination, achieved what he’s always wanted. Union College is acquiring a young man destined for greatness.”
