Myah Gomez and Kailyn Jager, the top-seeded pair in the tournament, have advanced to the 3C2A State Championships, which will be held at West Valley College starting on Thursday, May 9, 2024. The duo will enter the tournament as the sixth seed.

Gomez and Jager fought tough battles in both their matches. In their first match against Pasadena City College, they secured a win with a score of 21-16, 19-21, 15-13. In their second match against Grossmont College, they again faced a challenging opponent but defeated Grossmont’s number one with a score of 21-17, 16-21, 15-12.

Head coach Kim Lester has emphasized the significance of confidence and a next-ball mentality as the key to their success. This strategy, which focuses on staying focused on the current play and not dwelling on past mistakes, has been instrumental in the duo’s performance this year.

"I am extremely proud of our team," says Lester. "Every point counts from here on out, and they will be challenged every game. It is important that they maintain their composure while sticking to the strategy that has made them successful throughout the season. It will be a remarkable week for them if they minimize their unforced errors and play their game.
