The 2018 season is in our rear-view mirror and was a sensational season for the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.  With the end of the season comes paperwork, meaning the coaches have selected the all-conference teams.

MiraCosta College and San Diego Mesa College captured their respective division titles, so it comes with no surprise that both schools had players named the Most Valuable Player of their respective divisions.   Halie Hess (MiraCosta) was named the MVP of the north while Raven Casas (San Diego Mesa) was named the MVP of the south.

Hess was a big part of the Spartan success in 2018 as MiraCosta went 22-4 overall and made it to the regional finals.  She finished the season with a team-high 282 kills, also finishing third on the team with 180 digs.  The sophomore from Roseville, California, had a season-high 19 kills on three different occasions and had a season-high 25 digs against College of the Desert on October 17.

Casas was a force for Mesa throughout the season, leading the Olympians to a 17-13 overall finish, a PCAC South title and a regional final appearance against Bakersfield.  Casas led Mesa in kills (484) while finishing third on the team in digs (234).  Her 4.52 kills-per-set ranked No. 4 in the state and her 484 total ranked No. 1.    Casas had a season-high of 28 kills in both of the playoff matches at the end of the season and recorded a season-high 18 digs against Cypress College on September 8.

Hess was 1-of-10 different Spartans to make the All-PCAC North Team.  College of the Desert was also rewarded with nine players on the team while Mt. San Jacinto College had eight.

Casas was joined by seven other Olympians that made the All-PCAC South squad.  Grossmont College led the division with 10 total selections while San Diego City College had eight, Imperial Valley College four and Cuyamaca College one.

In addition, Chris Muscat (MiraCosta) was named the north coach-of-the-year and Bobbie Stall (Mesa) the south coach-of-the-year.
