Head coach, Jaime Lopez, was born and raised in Baja  California (Mexicali).  After being raised in Mexico Jaime Lopez had the opportunity to come to the United States where he grew and developed as a player and a coach.  His coaching experience ranges from high school  to college level.    He is grateful for the opportunity to have served  as the Head Coach at Mesa College since 2013.  He is committed to growing and strengthening the Men"s  Volleyball  Program through active recruitment, quality coaching and  team building.  Initially it was his dream to alter the team's pathway and create a competitive team that not only competed well throughout the season but posed a threat during playoffs.  His dream came to fruition in 2016 when the Mesa Men's Volleyball Team made playoffs for the first time in history and he was named     " Coach of the Year".

At  the collegiate level  Jaime has coached  Grossmont College for the past seven years .  During his tenure as assistant coach at Grossmont College the Men's Volleyball Team competed in two State  Championship Finals.  In addition to coaching the collegiate level men's teams, he has also served as the women's assistant coach at Grosmmont College since 2011 during which time the team competed in the State Championship Finals (2013-2014).  He also served as the assistant coach for the Grossmont College Sand Volleyball Team since 2015 which clenched the State Championship in 2016.  Jaime  has coached both high school and club teams.  He coached varsity volleyball  at Sweetwater and Coronado High School and junior varsity at Monte Vista High School.  He has also coached club volleyball for Seaside, Coast,  East Valley, ECVBA and  SoCal volleyball clubs.

Jaime has extensive experience as both an indoor and outdoor volleyball.  He has been playing for thirty one  years as a setter for teams in Baja California.  He has won three National  Championships  (2001, 1992, 1991).  In the United States he played two years at Grossmont College earning  "First Team All Pacific Coast Conference" both years.  As a beach player Jaime has also earned distinction by winning the famous Estero Beach Volleyball tournament and  the Baja Open.  Additionally he represented the  Mexican National Beach Volleyball Team in North Central and Caribbean (NORCECA) international tournament(2010-2011).

As a respected and experienced coach Jaime brings his passion for volleyball and commitment to building the team to the gym each and every day.
