Men's Swim & Dive Continue Their Winning Ways vs. Palomar

The wins were plenty at Palomar College on Friday afternoon as Mesa men captured 10 out of 14 individual event wins, on their way to a 151-136 team win. Jake Roth started things off with a double board win in the 1 Meter (213.37 points) and 3 Meter (234 points) diving events. Neil Franka once again led the charge in swimming by sweeping wins in his individual events, the 200 free (1:44.82), 100 Free (46.99), and 200 IM (1:57.49), and swimming the fly leg on the winning 200 Medley relay (1:42.16). Juan Robles owned the backstrokes finishing first in the 100 and 200 backstroke events. Chon Pong Lao followed suit in the breaststroke, winning the 100 and 200 breast. What turned out to be the key result of the meet came in the 100 Fly with sophomore Brian Burns finishing ahead of the competition, and Juan Robles placing second by .19 seconds over Paul Lee of Palomar. Coach Nathan Resch attributed the victory to not only the winners, but the deep points who scored second, third, fourth and fifth, "We spoke a number of times as a team about how important every swim can be in a dual meet. Any individual battle for a place can change the outcome of a meet. It is very important when the result becomes close. The 100 fly result today, placing first and second at a critical time, is a good example. I am proud of our ability to race from the top to bottom of the lineup today."

San Diego Mesa will swim and dive for an undefeated dual meet conference championship title Friday, 3/27/2015, at home against Southwestern College at 2pm.
