John P. Roberts enters his fifteenth season of coaching. In that time, Roberts has been a Head Coach, coached every offensive position, defensive backs, and served as Special Teams Coordinator.  His coaching stints include two years as Head Coach at El Camino HS where his squads posted a 14-12 record. In two seasons, his teams reached the semi-finals and a finals appearance in 2015. The finals appearance was the first for the school in 16 seasons.  

Other coaching stops include five seasons as the Offensive Coordinator at St. Augustine HS, two seasons at Mount Miguel HS, two at Cathedral Catholic HS, and three at his alma mater, Division I-A, WAC member Utah State University.  He was a four year letter winner at Utah State and twice awarded the Golden Helmet award, given to the team's hardest hitter, and twice voted Most Inspirational.  He earned his Bachelor's of Science degree in Managerial Economics while attending.  He has coached a pair of running backs who finished their careers as San Diego County's All-time Leading Rusher in Demetrius Sumler (2005) and Tyler Gaffney (2006). As a prep player, Roberts was named first team all-CIF and led the county in rushing totaling 2,185 for his senior year.  Roberts is employed full time as a Math teacher at El CAMINO HS.  He and his wife, Chastity reside in Escondido, CA.
