Olympians Matt Rochelle honored with SCFA Player of the Week

Sept. 11, 2013 - Matt Rochelle was recognized by the Southern California Football Association as the "Offensive Player of the Week" for the American Mountain Conference.  Rochelle was the leading scorer in Mesa's victory game over host college LA Southwest last week with three touchdowns including a 85 yard kick off return resulting in one of his three scores.  The Mt. Carmel graduate is in his second year as an Olympian and possesses what running back coach Garrett Clark calls, "blazing speed and ankle breaking quickness."  Which is exactly why he is being recruitied by the likes of USC, BYU and other DI colleges.  Off the field, the 5'9 running back also excels in the classroom as he carries a 3.1 GPA while focusing on a degree in engineering and graduated high school with a 3.5 GPA.  Rochelle is hoping to not just further his football playing career but to earn his Bachelors degree and then his Masters at a Division I college.
