The 2019 PCAC baseball crown will be decided in the next couple of days. With six games remaining in the regular season, San Diego Mesa College (15-3) holds a slight lead over Southwestern College (16-5).
The Olympians have been playing solid baseball in April, having only dropped one game against Chaffey College 9-4 on Saturday. The team has also been outscoring their opponents 53 to 28.
On Tuesday, the Olympians defeated LA Mission 13-1. They followed that performance with a thrilling victory that came at the bottom of the eighth inning over LA Pierce 9-8 on Thursday.
The game against LA Pierce will go down as an instant classic. Headed into the bottom of the eighth inning with the scored tied at 8-8, Victor Ceniceros directed a hard single to right field. Cyrus Fullen followed with another single to right field advancing Ceniceros to second base. Dominick Buso was successful in laying down a perfect bunt, reaching first base safely, loading the bases. Kevin Linge, who’s currently batting .336 with 20 RBI’s drew a bases-loaded walk to force home the game winning run.
That was all the Olympians needed as Riley Aggson replaced Dylan Ross (1-0) to earn his 3rd save of the year.
