Mesa Alum Steven Borkowski Signs Deal with Atlanta Braves

Sept. 23, 2012 - Mesa Baseball has added another player to an already long and distinguished list of alumni that have signed to a major league baseball team.  Following a successful 2015 season at St. Catharine College in Kentucky, Steven Borkowski has signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves.

The Patrick Henry High School graduate pitched for the Olympians in 2012 and 2013 where as a sophomore, he lead the club in strikeouts with 48 on the season.  He also held the best record of 6-4 with 12 starts for the 2013 season. 

After Mesa, the right handed pitcher transferred to the NAIA college, where he pitched in 91.2 innings collecting 86 strikeouts along with a 2.65 earned run average. Borkowski also achieved a first in the history of the of the St. Catharine College Baseball program. On May 5th, Borkowski was named NAIA National Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his efforts at the Mid-South Conference Tournament. During that week, he threw a no-hitter against Cumberlands (Ky.) and posted three saves.

Since his draft to the Braves, he has been playing with the Danville Braves where he's gone 3-1 with 20 innings of work.
