Sophomores Mohussin Abakar (Omaha Central HS) and Juan Rosales (Murrieta Valley HS) captured the women’s and men’s individual titles respectively.
The 2022 Manny Bautista Cross Country Invite concluded this weekend at Liberty Station in Point Loma. The event featured 195 athletes from 18 teams and is the largest community college meet in the state. The men’s team finished in first place beating Central Arizona 42-83. The women’s team continued to improve, finishing in 4th place in the 5-kilometer race.

Both the San Diego men’s and women’s cross country team shined in their first meet of the season, with the men’s team claiming first place and the women’s team finishing 3rd behind Fresno Pacific and Fresno State.
Despite claiming the 2021 Pacific Coast Athletic Conference title followed by a 6th place finish at the Southern California Regionals, the San Diego Mesa women’s cross country team will always wonder what else they could have accomplished.
