Mesa Women Place 4 Runners in The Top 7 at PCAC Championships

Morley Field – The San Diego Mesa women's cross country squad placed their top 4 runners in the top 7 at the PCAC Championships hosted by San Diego City College on Friday, October 25 in the warm and dry conditions.  The Olympians placed 2nd (31-48 points) to Palomar College.   

Yahaira Zuniga lead the Women's team with a dominate 1st place finish winning by 30 seconds covering the 5k distance in 19:30.   Adriana Leal followed Zuniga with a 4th place finish in 21:16, Grace Calegari 6th place 21:38 and Beyonce Wright 7th place 21:48 finished strong and rounded out the all conference honors for the Mesa Women.

"The future is bright for the SD Mesa Women's Cross Country Program with our top four placing in the top 7.  The Women's team is comprised of all freshman.  We are impressed with how these ladies ran tough and executed their race plans through the warm and dry conditions.  The coaching staff and team is excited for Regionals and State" states head coach Sean Ricketts.

Freshman and Conference Champion Yahaira Zuniga explained when asked what is next? "We are excited for State, but I am mainly focused on improving and developing throughout the season".
