Mesa Women's XC Excels at State With a Top 10 Finish

Fresno - The Mesa Women put together their strongest team and individual performances of the season by placing 10th in the CCCAA State Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Woodward Park.  Each Olympian ran a personal best time ranging from 40 seconds to 3 minutes for the 5K distance.  The Women improved upon their 13th Place finish at the SoCal Regional Meet in early November.

Yahaira Zuniga continued to excel in the championship phase of the season with a 7th place finish in 18:49 gaining All American Honors and running the 4th fastest time in school history.  Adriana Leal had a breakthrough performance and finished 49th place in 20:12, Grace Calegari 70th place 20:35, Beyonce Wright 87th place in 20:58, and anchoring the team was MyKenzie Belliotti 141st place in 22:19.

"The coaching staff is impressed with the personal best performances of each member of the Women's team today.  They ran their best races in the most important race of the season and accomplished their goal of placing top 10 in the state and most importantly rebuilding the legacy of the Women's XC program.  We are excited about the future, especially since the whole squad is freshman" explained Head Coach Sean Ricketts.
