Mesa women’s water polo wins 3 of 4 at Long Beach Tourney

The Mesa women's water polo team suffered only its second loss of the season in a rematch with Riverside but got 3 quality wins against Orange Coast, Santa Barbara and Golden West. Mesa opened the tournament with a 8-4 win over Orange Coast as Jaicey Tyler scored 5 goals and Madi Atkins recorded 12 saves. Cassie Bernas, Lilli Lindgard and Bailey Wickliffe each scored one goal.

Mesa took a 3-1 lead early in the second quarter but couldn't hold on against Riverside as they fell 8-5. Bailey Wickliffe scored 2 goals and Analise Voytilla, Lilli Lindgard (both pictured) and Cassie Bernas each scored one goal. Madi Atkins had 14 saves.

On the second day Mesa beat Santa Barbara City 9-6 as Bailey Wickliffe and Jaicey Tyler each scored 4 goals as Ellie Williams added one goal. Madi Atkins had 10 saves in the cage.

In the final match-up against Golden West, Mesa came away 12-7 winners as Bailey Wickliffe led the way with 6 goals. Jaicey Tyler scored 3, Cassie Bernas scored 2 and Jessica Levenson added one goal. Madi Atkins recorded a season high 19 saves in the goal.
