The first round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs begin today for the San Diego Mesa College women’s volleyball team. The Olympians seeded #10 will travel to Santa Clarita, CA to take on #7 seed College of the Canyons. Match is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start.
Despite having dropped their last three games, the coaching staff believes they have figured out what has plagued the team the last two weeks. “Our last couple of games we have struggled in areas that were usually our strength,” states head coach Bobbie Jo Stall. “We have addressed those issues and we are back on the right track heading into regionals.”
The two teams previously met on September 21 during the San Diego Mesa Quad. The Canyons defeated the Olympians 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-18).
The Olympians are looking to Raven Casas to lead the team. Casas currently has 424 kills, which ranks second in the state.
“We have to put our best foot forward against a team like the Canyons,” states Stall. “We know we can beat anyone in the region and excited for this match, we’ll be ready.”
