SBVC's Perez, Mesa's Goss Women's Athletes of Week.

San Bernardino Valley College's Savanna Perez and San Diego Mesa's Madison Goss share the final Pacific Coast Athletic Conference's Women's Athlete of the Week award of 2016-17 after last weekend's CCCAA State Community College Track & Field Championships.

Perez, a sophomore out of Wilma Amina Carter High School in Rialto, won the 800-meter race in the meet at American River College in Sacramento, running a 2:12.15.

Perez ran away from the second-place finisher, Mt. SAC's Teuila Gardner, who was timed in 2:16.16.

Mesa's Goss, a sophomore from Verrado High School in Buckeye, Arizona and a transfer from Humboldt State, finished fourth in the javelin in the state finals, getting out 40.15 meters (131 feet, 8.7 inches).

She also placed ninth in the state in the shot put.

Honorable mention was awarded to two other track and field athletes, Janeth Moya of Southwestern and Alyssa Hebb from San Bernardino Valley.

Moya, a sophomore from Hilltop High School who placed third in the Southern California finals the previous week, finished fifth in the California state meet in the 400 meters. She crossed the finish line in 1:04.90. Cerritos' Skylin Hachin won the race in 1:01.83.

Hebb, a freshman from Redlands East Valley high School, finished ninth in the state finals in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, running a 12:12.14.
