Olympians continue to roll, starts season at 4-0

The San Diego Mesa College women’s soccer team currently sits atop the conference with an unblemished 4-0 record. Even more impressive, the team is currently ranked #1 in the state in power points ahead of San Bernardino Valley College and Folsom Lake.

“Our start into the season has been fantastic,” states head coach Todd Curran. “We had a game winning goal in the 90th minute from Arianna ReVelo against Sierra College, who was ranked #1 in Northern California. We also defeated a very tough Taft team, and recently pulled out a gutsy 2-1 victory against Saddleback College.”

Violet Renard continues her dominant play now having tallied six goals, which leads the PCAC and is tied for 4th in the state.

Not to be outdone has been the performance of the defense, “our back four has been tremendous,’ adds Curran. “Eyannah Saenz and Alexis Salzwedel have been fantastic defending the middle. Nicole Buckley has also excelled holding the middle spot. When you have a team like ours, it gives us the ability to move our players around, our depth has allowed us to be dangerous every game.”

The team is back on the road today against Mt. San Jacinto College.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
