For the first time since 2008, the San Diego Mesa College Women's Soccer Program is headed back to the State Championship Final Four.

The Lady Olympians beat a scrappy San Bernardino Valley, 1-0, to win in the Southern California Regional Final. Mesa found themselves with several chances in the first 10 minutes of the game, only to be denied by two different defenders inside the six yard box. The second half remained scoreless as Mesa pushed hard for the game winning goal, again being denied on multiple free kicks and corner kicks. With only eight minutes left in regulation, Nicole Buckley found an open Naylea Beltran-Mendoza on the right side and from 30 yards out, Naylea hit a shot to the far post, the ball struck the far post and caromed off the post and into the net. For the final 8 minutes plus 5 minutes of injury time, the Mesa defense, led by goalkeeper Alyssa Warner and defenders Nicki MirandaNaylea Beltran-MendozaAlexis SalzwedelEyannah Saenz and Lena Samuels held the furious challenge by the Lady Wolverians.

Mesa will travel to DeAnza College in San Jose, CA for this year's final four. They will play in the first Semi-Final on Friday, December 6th at 9:45 AM vs. the Northern California's #1 seed, still yet to be determined. The game will be available to watch live online.

The San Diego Mesa College Women's Soccer Program would like to thank all of their families, friends and especially the Olympian Alumni who came out to support the team.
