The San Diego Mesa College men’s and women’s cross country team opened their 2019 campaign on Saturday at the Fresno Invitational held at Woodward Park.
“Our squads ran well today amongst some of the top talent in the state,” states head coach Sean Ricketts. “This is always a great start to the year because it allows us to preview the state meet course.
The women’s team finished in 7th place, led by freshman Yahaira Zuniga who finished 6th (19:28) in the 5K distance.
The men’s team continue their dominance by placing first, beating Mt. San Antonio College 37-43. The team finished with 7 members in the top 20 and all within a 25 second spread.
Leading the way were Bobby Brana (4th; 21:08), Isaiah Labra (5th; 21:09), Medhane Woldhu (21:09); and Christian Salt (21:16).
Both men’s and women’s team are back in action on Friday, September 13 as they compete at the SoCal Preview held at Mission Bay Park.
