Mesa dominates at the PCAC Finals

The San Diego Mesa men's cross country team won the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championship on Saturday in San Bernardino.  The Olympians had four finishers in the top-10.

Mesa entered the race as the favorites after capturing the SoCal Preview title in September and didn't disappoint.  The Olympians were a dominating force on Saturday, with three harriers finishing in the top four and a fourth finishing in the top-10.

Freshman Isaiah Labra captured the individual title by finishing the 4-mile trek in 20:09.4.  Labra was nearly 15 seconds ahead of his closest competitor, averaging 5:02.4-per-mile.  The Olympians were bunched in the front for most of the race as freshman Stefen Rasmuson finished 3rd (20:30.8), freshman Bobby Brana was 4th(20:39.9) and freshman Christian Alcantar was 8th (20:53.9).  Two other Mesa harriers finished in the top-15 in the team competition with sophomore Jose Garcia in 14th (21:28.2) and freshman Nikoli Melovidov in 15th (21:32.7).

San Bernardino Valley was the second place finisher on Saturday, with two top-10 finishers for the day.  The Wolverines were led by sophomore Carlos DeLaTorre, who finished 5th overall (20:46.2).  He was followed closely by sophomore Michael Ramirez, who finished 9th (20:55.4).

Other top-10 finishers on the day included Cuyamaca's Kibrom Elias (2), San Diego City's Andres Zamudio (6), Cuyamaca's Awal Hussen (7) and Palomar's Mario Trasvina (10).
