Men's cross country places 3rd at So Cal Regionals

The San Diego Mesa men’s cross-country team finished in 3rdplace at the highly competitive So. Cal. Regionals held in Cerritos, California.

The Mesa cross country program has not finished on the podium at regionals since 2011. The 2011 squad went on to continue that season with a 3rd place at the state meet.

"The men have progressed nicely over the season and continue to accomplish their goals with a podium finish,” states head coach Sean Ricketts. “Everyone stepped up and executed the race plan. We are extremely proud of how everyone performed.”

Freshman Stefen Rasmuson (Mira Mesa HS) finished in 3rd place. Freshman Isiah Labra (Bonita Vista) placed 6th on the team.

"We have our sights set on a podium finish at the upcoming state meet," states Rickets. "We are excited and ready. Both the men and women have worked extremely hard and it’s time to show everyone what we’ve worked on.”

The team will be back in action on Saturday, November 17 at the CCCAA State Championships held in Fresno, CA (Woodland Park).
