Men’s water polo ranked #7 in the state

The San Diego Mesa men’s water polo team began its season in impressive fashion winning five of their first six games.

The squad notched wins over Las Positas College (24-7), Ohlone College (14-9), West Valley College (12-10), Ohlone College (15-10), and Merced College (14-11). Their only blemish, a close and hard-fought battle against Diablo Valley College 13-17.

“We knew our team could compete with all the teams we were facing,” states head coach Nathan Resch. “This early into the season there are always unknowns, our goal is to figure out who we are now rather than later.”

Sophomore Roman Rosser proved to be one of the most versatile players in the state with his outstanding defense and ability to create and score on the offensive side of the pool.

Freshman Kyle Bos (Langley Secondary) found a grove in cage anchoring the defensive end of the pool all weekend.

Sophomore Cooper Lynch had a tremendous 2M goal against West Valley to seal the win against the defending Northern California Regional Champions.

Freshman Jason Grindle (Torrey Pines HS) had some tremendous goals at very welcome moments and does a tremendous job playing defense.

With a strong start into the 2019 campaign, the men’s team is currently ranked #7 in the state and currently atop the PCAC at 5-1.

“We are happy to have the week off to prepare for our first big conference game against Palomar College on September 25,” adds Resch. Play is scheduled to begin at 330 p.m.
