The San Diego Mesa Men's Water Polo team drove north on Wednesday, October 9th, to Yucaipa to take on Crafton Hills' inaugural season squad. Mesa took off fast with 7 unanswered goals to start the game led by Sophomore team captain Brendan McMahon (4 goals, 2 exclusions drawn) and Cooper Lynch (5 goals, 2 steals and 1 exclusion drawn). The aquatic Olympians buried 8 goals in the first quarter, six more in the second and six again in the third, while the Roadrunners responded with 3 goals over 3 frames giving Mesa a 20-3 advantage after 3 quarters. Mesa went on to win 20-5.

The win combined with Palomar's 12-10 conference win over Grossmont puts Mesa atop of the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Standings as the only undefeated team at 3-0. Palomar and Grossmont sit locked in second at 2-1.

"We have been a little banged up and dealing with some sickness this week so we were happy with the offensive production, and defensive effort this group of 11 guys had on this conference road trip," Coach Resch commented. "We are looking forward to having a restful weekend to gain some momentum with all our personnel heading into a competitive Cuesta tournament next week."

The Olympians will have rematches against Diablo Valley College (9:10am Saturday, 10/19 at Cuesta College) and Ohlone (10:40am Friday, 10/18 at Arroyo Grande High School), and face Sierra College (2:20pm Friday, 10/18 at Arroyo Grande High School), and De Anza College (11:30am Saturday, 10/19 at Cuesta College).
