Track and Field shines at RCC Quad

The San Diego Mesa College men's and women's track and field team travelled to Riverside College on Friday to start the 2019 season by competing at the Riverside Quad Meet.

Amongst the participants were Cerritos College, Mt. San Antonio College, and Riverside Community College. The ability to face the top three programs in the state provided the coaching staff a great opportunity to evaluate where the team currently stands.

"The goal for our men's and women's team was to get a benchmark of where our athlete's current fitness is and gain valuable experience against high-quality competition," states head coach Sean Ricketts. "We will be heading into a three-week training program after this meet to prepare for our early competition in early March."

Highlights From The Meet
Holly Stallman 1st Place Finish in the Women's Long Jump - 18'9 (#6 All Time)
Hannah Hajj 1st Place Tie in the Women's High Jump - 4'9 (#8 All Time)
Troy Cristobal 1st Place Tie in the Men's High Jump - 6'0
Davey Folsom 1st Place in the Men's Shot Put - 46'5.25
Isaiah Labra 1st Place in the Men's 1 Mile Run - 4:27

We are happy with our performance and how they handled themselves this early into the season, adds Ricketts. "There is still a lot of work to be done but we feel as if we are on the right track."

The Olympians are back on the track on Friday, March 1 when they compete at the Cal State Los Angeles Invite.
