Winning Streak

Over the weekend, San Diego Mesa Olympians beat College of the Desert 23-19.

COD (4-4; 1-2) moved the ball well on the ground, but six turnovers proved costly for the San Diego Mesa Olympians (7-1; 3-0), 23-19.

Freshman running back Logan Vallo (Yucca Valley, CA) had a 107 yard rushing game as he carried the ball 25 times.

Sophomore quarterback Spencer Moyer (San Diego, CA) struggled to find a rhythm as he passed 31 times only completing 8, including two touchdown passes.

Desert would get onto the board first as Desert kicked a 49 yard field goal to give the home side a 3-0 lead with 3:28 left in the first quarter.

SD Mesa would gain the lead on the next possession as they scored on a two yard carry, to give the Olympians a 7-3 lead.

The Roadrunners would respond with a touchdown of their own on their next possession, making the score 10-7.

The Olympians would tie up the game just before halftime as they converted a 24 yard field goal attempt to tie the game at 10-10.

On their third possession of the second half, Desert found their way into the end zone again for the score to give the Roadrunners a 16-10 lead, but a blocked extra point attempt, kept the score at 16-10.

A 44 yard field goal with 13:32 left in the game, gave Desert a 19-10 lead.

The Olympians responded with a 53 yard pass touchdown made by Spencer Moyer into the hands of Artie Henry, 17-19.

With 4:42 remaining, another touchdown pass between Spencer Moyer and Artie Henry (45 yards) wins the game for the Olympians.

The next game for SD Mesa is at home vs Mt. San Jacinto, next Saturday, November 4th.
