Bio:
Head Coach, Kim Lester is in her 15th year as the women’s volleyball Head Coach. She has been coaching women's beach volleyball at San Diego Mesa College since 2015. In addition, Coach Lester is the Assistant Athletic Dean.

Coach Lester earned her bachelors of science degree in kinesiology from San Diego State University. In addition, she holds a master’s degree in education with an emphasis in physical education from Azusa Pacific University. 

Prior to coaching at SD Mesa, Coach Lester has served at many prestigious colleges with competitive volleyball programs such as the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Idaho State University, and the University of Oklahoma. Before finding her home at Mesa, Coach Lester has worked with several community colleges including San Diego City College, Southwestern College and Saddleback College.

When Coach Lester took over the Olympians program in 2002, she didn’t hesitate in making Mesa women’s volleyball stronger. In 2004 Coach Lester made a mark that would begin a tradition; Her 2004 squad earned a 22-5 overall record, won the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championship title, and finished 2nd in the state tournament. In 2006, the Olympians would again become the conference champions and win their way back into the state tournament, this time they would finish as 4th in the state.

Since her start, Coach Lester has culminated an overall record of 263-106 and a conference record of 158-28. During the past 10 years, the Olympians have won the title of Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Champions 5 times (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009) and has had 4 undefeated seasons (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007). Coach Lester was honored as the PCAC Coach of the Year 3 times (2004, 2006, 2007), as well as the PCAC female sport Coach of the Year in 2004.

Coach Lester is proud to be at the helm of the 3rd season of women's sand volleyball at San Diego Mesa College. She brings a wealth of success and knowledge as the Head Coach of the college's women's sand volleyball program.

Coach Lester has earned herself a reputation as someone who believes in the foundation of hard work in the classroom and on the court, and has established herself as a well-respected coach. Her coaching style and philosophies have become a winning formula as she has consistently produced winning teams and great student-athletes.

She currently resides in San Diego and is the proud parent of daughter, Jaden.
