Mesa women's beach volleyball won 2 of their 3 matches on Friday!

It’s been a long time coming, but the much anticipated 2019 women’s beach volleyball season started on Friday as Mesa hosted Mt. San Antonio College, Saddleback College, and Cypress College.

The team is showing lots of promise having won two of their three matches.

The Olympians defeated Saddleback College 5-0, Cypress College 3-2, and the only loss of the day came against Mt. San Antonio College 2-3.

Although the loss against Mt. San Antonio College was disappointing, the coaching staff used this as a valuable teaching tool. “The loss was a great learning experience for us, explains assistant coach Andy Stucke. “It taught us that the difference between winning and losing are often found in the subtle details and cleaning up some of those mental mistakes will often times lead to a better result.”

The women are back on the court on Thursday, February 28 hosting Mira Costa College and Ottawa University (Arizona).

“For our first tournament I am extremely proud of how our team played,” states assistant coach Andy Stucke. “Every team competed hard and regardless if they won or lost, we got better today.”
