The Olympian football squad kicked off Homecoming last week 3-0, undeafeated against El Camino Compton College (35-0), Grossmont College (32-7) and Antelope Valley College (24-7). To honor their achievements, SD Mesa College held a Homecoming pep rally Thursday, September 21st.
In addition to football, each of SD Mesa's 21 sports teams were represented and honored at the Homecoming pep rally. President Pam Luster and Dean Ryan Shumaker congratulated the Olympians and encouraged students to attend the upcoming Homecoming tailgate and game vs East Los Angeles.
At the Homecoming game, the Olympians faced East Los Angeles. It was an exciting game, with 4 quarterback sacks, 35 rush attempts and a blocked field goal for the Olympians. It was a 0-0 score heading into half-time.
SD Mesa's Dance Team performed for the audience (James Brown!) at half-time.
After half-time, the Olympians took a 13-0 into the 4th quarter. By the finish, the Olympian men lost the lead for a 13-20 upsetting final.
Moving forward SD Mesa is 3-1, and scheduled to play away at L.A. Pierce College Saturday, September 30th at 6:00 p.m.
